Right near the Holbrook Road Elementary School in Centereach there is a sump. The sump is on Champlin, off Holbrook Road. There are so many starving cats and kittens in such horrendous shape.

At least three times a week there are dead cats in the road and many of them have been tiny newborn kittens.

Something has to be done about this area. Even if these cats could be trapped and humanely put to sleep, it would end their suffering. Some rescue groups were called but nothing has apparently been done to help these cats.

There is no food or water and cats crawl into the nearby garbage cans in search of food. It is a desperate situation. I am hoping anyone who has a heart that wants to help suffering kittens and cats will get in touch with a rescue organization that could help?

This just can't go on. It's heartbreaking.

If a Vet would want to humanely euthanize the ones that are in the worst shape, if nothing else could be done, I would donate money to that Vet or if a rescue group can save some of those poor suffering cats and they post where to send a donation to, I will help by sending a donation for their care.

But something must be done! I found a very friendly declawed female cat on Friday night (11-06-09). She has long hair and is white with multi color, mostly grey spots of color. Vacinity of Saddle Lane and Prairie Lane in Levittown. She is very skinny and starving when I fed her. No collar. She might have been lost a long time. She could be an older cat because her teeth are long and a little yellow.I took her in but cant keep her because I have 5 already. She uses the kitty litter box. It's hard to believe how sweet and wonderful Lila is. After all, she was just saved from DEATH ROW at the manhattan kill Shelter, where she had arrived only a few days prior as an EMACIATED stray: she was extremely malnourished and emaciated, you could see nothing but ribs and bones, and covered in fleas! There is a dead cat on the Northwest corner of Gardiners ave and Knoll lane. It is on the small side, black with white paws. I couldn't see if was a collar from my location. It looked like it got hit by a car.

People you need to keep your cats inside the odds are against them outside. Whosever cat it is I'm sorry for your loss.

Kilo is estimated to be around 4-5yrs of age, and is just a sweetheart: he gets along great with all dogs, loves to go for walks and to the dog run too! he is a wonderful boy who loves to hang out in your company and go places with you; he i a very interesting mix, looking very much like a "giant" jack russel"!! BILLY is a big guy at 69 lbs and he is a One-year-old pit mix, a stunning and good muscle boy with a noble soul and a HEART OF GOLD; he has been a very leveled, stable boy at the kill shelter, only pulling a bit on the leash when first getting out of the cage, but who can blame him for that? Before coming to the shelter, he lived in a home, and has learned a lot of good family-dog manners. He doesn't jump up. Gives every indication of being house trained. He's always been fine with the other dogs he met in the courtyard. He has a gorgeous red-chocolate brown coat, white tummy, and white paws that make him look like he's wearing charming white socks and a shirt. She took the cats home and realized they were playful and her kids were tormenting them so what did she do? Instead of calling the person she adopted the cats from, she opened the door and let them both out and figured they would stay outside.

You know how this ends: They both became pregnant and had two sets of kittens. By the time she called for help, saying she "couldn't afford feeding them", 4 kittens had died because of being attacked by other animals and the rest of the kittens were now pregnant and starving to death. One kitten was missing an eye, having been ripped out by a dog!

We need to be very careful about who we adopt out to. GO TO THEIR HOME! INSIST YOU HAVE THEIR PHONE NUMBER! Make sure they are O.K. with you checking up on how the pets are doing and let them know you will take back the pet FOR ANY REASON!

If kittens are old enough, have them spayed before giving them away! If you can't do that, have the person pay you for low cost spaying and tell them YOU will come back and take the kitten to be spayed.

In the first of two Suffolk court appearances Tuesday in Central Islip, Sharon McDonough, 43, listened quietly as a Family Court judge ordered the children removed from her home.

Two of the children will live with an older brother.

After leaving Family Court, McDonough was then ushered to Criminal Court, followed by about a dozen journalists.

Suffolk authorities last week seized five dogs and a cat from McDonough's Awixa Place home and accused her of torturing the animals.

The Suffolk Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said 20 dead animals were dug up from McDonough's yard last week.

Her son, Doug McDonough, 21, told reporters on Saturday his mother forced her daughters to torture the animals.

Sharon McDonough pleaded not guilty Sunday to misdemeanor animal cruelty charges.

A Family Court judge Tuesday sought a psychiatric evaluation of McDonough and ordered her back to court on Nov. 23

We decided to look for a breeder as just dont see any purebred cats in the shelters that match us. Shes 3 and acts like a kitten. She is spayed, has all her shots, and is strictly indoor only. She is also tested negative for feline aids and leukemia. She is not declawed we think that declawing a cat is like cutting someones fingers off, we do clip her nails regularly though. As for children, i dont have young children. This cat will ALWAYS have company.

We're desperately seeking our youngest cat, who comes to the nickname "Hocus" or "Hokey."

He's just a year old, fully black with a small white patch on his chest and a smaller white 'fig leaf.' Witchy green eyes - he is the perfect Witch's cat (and he is).

He is sweet and very approachable and we're fearing ('we' being myself and my young child) that he was either taken or wandered too far away from the house and can't find his way back.
Hocus is very talkative and friendly.

The only photo I have is from his kitten days so I'm not posting it as it's out of date.

Please contact if you know of his whereabouts. We live on W. Pulaski Rd in Huntington, not far from the White Post commercial nursery and greenhouses.
