This chromolithograph is magnificent.
The work is by renown artist Samuel Augustus Binion (1853 - 1914.) and is titled, “Thebes: View of the Gate and Temples To The South of Karnak.” From Binion’s 1887 limited work, Ancient Egypt or Mizraim, which was published in NY by Henry G. Allen and Co. The print is noted as “Vol. II.”
Bottom left indicates Cosack and Company, Buffalo, NY, USA - a company considered a landmark of American chromolithography.
Set in a nice gold tone metal frame which works nicely with the lithograph. The frame measures 31 3/4” x 27”
The image measures 19” x 12 1/2”. The sheet measures approximately 27 1/4” x 21”.
The creme /gold color mat matches the tones of the print.
