Have 3rd University horn older 4401 out of system, back driver repainted but labels not covered, it's a single 4401 mid T and dims are all the same except for the height, the older one is 2.75 high. Works good, $45
and yes all of them work and sound fine
HISTORY on HORNS
The Klipschorn Timeline states the University Model 4401 tweeter was used in the Klipschorn from 1951 thru 1958. Stated freq response is from 2500-15000Hz, Impedance 8 ohms.
These are beautiful high quality University drivers and they sounded very good.
The driver end has some minor dents that in no way affects their operation. They have been tested and are in excellent working condition.
ALSO 3 vintage speaker systems below see PICS
Lafayette Electronics sold the Criterion Speaker brand, real walnut wood veneer finishes, speaker speakers --- 3 speakers listed below:___
___SINGLE Criterion 50A 2 way system 8 ohm, 8" woofer and 3-1/2 inch cone tweeter with ducted port for bass 10.75" x 19" speaker face x 9" depth. Ducted port systems are way more efficient and louder than sealed, acoustic suspension types. Will sound great with a small amplifier. Walnut veneer has some corner damage on top, easy to touch up or fix.
ALSO
___ONE small Criterion 25A rated 8 ohms, also has 8" woofer (acoustic suspension) and 2-1/2inch tweeter all speakers work OK crossover cap 3uf 30V Bipolar may need replacement Velcro holding grill is there but could use new velcro cabinet in nice shape considering its age.
ALSO
___Another single Criterion speaker model 100A in nice walnut veneer cabinet, has a 10 inch woofer, puts out decent bass, and is a very efficient ducted port design requires little amplifier power to sound loud. Has tweeter level control on back. Could be used for stereo operation or as is or re-purposed and made into new systems with upgraded components, nice cabinets, could also be singers - vocal monitors or just use the cabinets for another purpose entirely
