Medical Assistant needed to perform various clinical and administrative duties in our East Patchogue, Riverhead and Stony Brook orthopedic offices.
The Medical Assistant will work directly with providers by reviewing and updating patient records prior to appointment, reviewing patient record (EHR) to determine needed services have been completed since last visit, greeting patients and assisting them to exam room, verifying patient information by interviewing patient, reviewing and /or recording the medical history and confirming purpose of visit, arranging examination room instruments, supplies and equipment, assisting providers during examinations and procedures, preparing lab specimens, removing sutures, changing dressings, removing casts, inputting orders as directed by providers, and ensuring orderly and efficient patient flow.
The Medical Assistant will also perform general clerical duties, which include but are not limited to answering phones, photocopying, faxing, and completing insurance forms, obtaining prior authorizations for medications, keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders or assist with order placement, and verifying receipt of such orders.
Candidate must possess excellent communication skills and display professionalism at all times. Must be reliable and dependable and be a team player as well as work independently.
Recent graduates or a MA program will be considered as well as MA experience.
