School Janitor/Handyman (Plainview)
Educational Childcare Center is looking for a janitor/handyman to join our program.
Start Date: ASAP
Positions:
9:00am-2:00pm
Responsibilities:
• Cleans classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, multipurpose room, offices and all interior rooms during the day
• Floor care including sweeping, vacuuming & mopping
• Daily trash removal and cleaning of all receptacles
• Responds to emergency cleanups during the day, such as clogged drains and spills
• Performs routine grounds-keeping duties, including picking up litter, weeding, mowing the lawn, leaf blowing etc.
• Sets up and arranges furniture as needed
• Assists with receiving of packages, parcels and large items
• Perform walk through of the facility during the day in order to ensure the building and the outer perimeters are clean and safe; ensure all bathrooms are properly stocked at all times
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned
• Other duties as required
Qualifications:
• Familiarity with the use of maintenance equipment such as including snow blower, sander, power drills, etc.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of cleaning materials, chemicals, tools and equipment
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to maintain simple records
• Ability and willingness to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the required duties, including ability to lift, carry, push, pull and move heavy objects on a regular basis
• Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and roll-up my sleeves attitude
• Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as necessary or as given by the Director
• Must have ability to stand for long periods of time, squat/stoop/kneel, reach above the head, reach forward, repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times; and consistently lift up to 30 pounds
• 2-5 years of custodial experience preferred
• High School Graduate Degree
• Previous custodian experience, preferably in a school environment
