**BABY RATS - Bring Your New Family Member Home in a few weeks! ** (S. Huntington)
S. HUNTINGTON, NY
2 litters and a few independant baby rescues 13 babies all together (and 2 MAMAS TOO!!)
Both litters born approxiately 4/19/18, will be available for adoption mid-late May (pending when they stop nursing themselves, I will never separate a baby from it's mom until it has weaned itself)
Litter #1 (Mama is 'Plague' - and yes, I name my rats after diseases! )
3 boys - 2 black rex boys and a 1 brown standard coated boy
2 girls - 1black rex girl and 1 brown rex girl *the brown girl has very curly, thick coat - really pretty)
Litter #2 (Mama 'Louse' - also available for adoption, Brown Hooded, has a big tumor near back left leg)
1 Black Hooded Girl
1 Black w/ white bellied boy (also has a star in middle of forehead)
1 Black Boy w/ White paws
1 Black & White Girl (Looks like Cookies & Cream ice cream)
In addition I have :
1 Grey & White Boy - approx 4 weeks old
1 Black Hooded Dumbo Girl (Approx 4 weeks old)
2 Black Hooded Rex Girls (approx 3.5 weeks old - very cute, almost identical matching pair)
1 Siamese Boy (Very light colored Siamese, may look more albino than siamese as he ages - approx 7-8 weeks)
1 Brown Girl (Approx 6.5 months old)
2 Black & White Boys (Approx 4.5-5 months old)
Younger Babies will not be sent to their new homes until they stop nursing on their own and show independence.
They have all been handled daily, and as they age they will be getting exposure to things like running water, pots & pans knocking into each other, flushing toilets, vacuums, and will even met the dogs. In short, I'm trying to ensure they know that the world is not scary and us humans won't hurt them or put them in danger
Adoption fee is $20 per baby, but I will HAPPILY WAIVE FEE with ANY of the following (although any donations would be greatly appreciated as I do cover everything out of pocket, including new cages when needed, food, bedding, and travel for delivering them to new homes) :
- proof of a good setup including cage with small bar spacing (1/2" minimum - 3/4" max spacing between bars), climbing toys,
play toys, etc...
- proof of another rat in the household with a safe & fun cage setup
- a vet reference from a small exotics vet or dog/cat vet to show that you are, or have been, a good pet owner.
I will do my best to match each adopter with rats of their coloring choice whenever possible.
No adopters will be allowed to adopt a boy AND a girl; multiple adoptions must be same sex. Keeping siblings together is preferred, but not required. Adoptions of single rats are fine as long as there is another rat in the household already (rats are social animals and should have companionship)
If you are interested, or would like more information, please text me show contact info
or email me via craigslist. Please note that phone calls will likely not be answered, as I don't answer calls from unknown numbers and I DO NOT listen to voicemails. PLEASE BE PATIENT FOR RESPONSES - I WILL RESPOND TO ALL EMAIL INQUIRIES WITHIN 36 HOURS, BUT OFTEN MUCH QUICKER IF INQUIRY IS VIA TEXT MESSAGE.
With time I will provide additional pictures, and even some video, of the lil guys via email to any interested adopters. Meetups can definitely be arranged for anyone hoping to select their babies in person. I am happy to drive babies to their new homes anywhere as far West as Queens/Brooklyn and as far East as Riverhead. Delivery to homes located outside those borders can be arranged (Manhatten via car is excluded, but I can take a train to Penn station for anyone willing to cover the cost of the round-trip ticket). For car-trips outside the above areas, I am willing to travel almost anywhere but I will request funds for gas or toll. I have in the past driven babies as far as Connecticut and New Jersey, so don't be afraid to ask. =)
