"USE" Autographic Film," NO A-130 has been discontinued for decades. No 2C Autographic Brownie
You can still use the camera today, but the "autographic" feature will not work with modern film.
The Autographic Feature
How it Worked: Photographers used a small metal stylus to write notes on the film's backing paper through a tiny door on the camera's back.
The Mechanism: Autographic film had a special layer of carbon between the film and backing paper.
Writing with the stylus removed the carbon, allowing light to "burn" the note directly onto the negative.
Current Limitation: Modern film does not have this carbon layer; opening the autographic door while modern film is loaded will ruin your photos by exposing the film to light.
Shooting Today
To use this camera now, you must use standard modern roll film.
Film Compatibility: If your model is a No. 2, it was designed for 120 film, which is still widely available.
If it is a No. 2A, it originally used 116 film, which is discontinued and requires spool adapters to fit modern 120 film.
Light Leak Warning: Because modern film is more light-sensitive than vintage film, it is highly recommended to cover the red "frame counter" window and the autographic door with black electrical tape to prevent light from fogging your negatives.
